GIFT LIST HELP

How does the Gift List work?

The Couple's Gift List has been chosen by them, so whatever you choose to give them, you can be sure that it's something they want!

You may select one or more items from the Gift List and purchase online or by telephone. The Gift List will remain available until the wedding. The couple may require you to use a password in order to access their Gift List.

Once a Gift List has been finalised by the Gift List Holder Nearly Married will purchase these products and deliver them to the Gift List Holder at dates agreed with them which may be after the wedding.

Free delivery of your purchase is included within the administration fee (irrespective of the number of items purchased). The administration fee is £3.50. Your purchases will be delivered in suitable packaging and will not be gift-wrapped.

The couple have regular access to their Gift List and, depending on their preferences, they may receive automatic notification when a purchase has been made. So don't be surprised if you receive a thank you note before the wedding!

How do I access a gift list?

You need to know the date of the wedding and the surname of at least one member of the couple. Enter this information in the bottom right-hand corner of the homepage and you will see the couple's website with their integrated gift list. If this does not work, enter the surname as Surname Two instead of Surname One and enter the wedding date.

I need a password to access a gift list - can you help?

Some couples require you to use a password in order to access their Gift List. Please contact us (see details below) and we will resolve this for you as quickly as possible. This process may take a few days.

Why are some gifts marked as favourites?

If there are some gifts which couples need more than others, they often highlight these by marking them as favourite gifts. So if you're not sure what to choose for a couple it's a great idea to pick one of their favourite gifts as it's always a popular choice!

What are SuperShare gifts?

With more expensive gifts, couples can mark the gift as a SuperShare gift so that the total cost can be shared by more than one guest. You can still buy the entire gift yourself or you can pay for one or more parts of it. And you don't need to know the other people who contribute towards the same gift. If the rest of the gift is not purchased the couple will have the option to purchase the rest of the SuperShare gift directly or to use the value of your gift to purchase another gift instead.

How do I purchase a gift online?

When you are browsing the couple's gift list you can add gifts to your basket. You can view your basket and checkout at any time. To complete the order process you must provide your name and, if you wish, a personal message to the couple. You will then be transferred to our secure payment partner, Nochex, where you will need to provide your name, address and payment card details.

Can I add a personal message to the couple when I buy a gift?

Yes. Once you've made your selection you will have the opportunity to add a short personal message which only the happy couple will be able to view.

Can I buy the gift in a shop instead?

The beauty of a gift list is that it prevents guests buying duplicate items, so the days of receiving three toasters and four kettles are long gone! Buying a gift from the Gift List (whether on the internet or by phone) means that the Gift List is automatically updated and all gifts which have been purchased are removed from the list. If you buy an item which is listed on Gift List but you buy it from a shop instead it is likely that another guest will purchase the item from the Gift List so the couple will receive duplicate gifts.

Can I see the items which I have bought or am thinking about buying?

Pictures of gifts are available on the website so that you can see what you're buying. Some people like to go to a shop to see what they are buying rather than buying online, but with our Gift List you can be confident that the couple have specifically chosen every gift which is on their Gift List. Many of the items on Gift Lists are readily available in high street stores, but many are not!

Why is there an item priced £0.00 which is "just for fun"?

Some couples choose to add fun items to add some humour to their gift list. As these gifts are rather elusive and expensive they're not really intended for purchase!

How does my gift get delivered?

You don't have to worry about getting your gift to the couple (or having to collect it from a shop or be at home at the moment the delivery firm call round). We'll do all that for you. We collate all the wedding gifts and make sure that all the gifts arrive at a time which is convenient to the couple.

Can the gift be sent to me so that I can give it to the couple directly?

Our service is designed to provide an easy way for couples to manage their gift list and we are unable to offer you this option.

Can I buy some of these items for myself?

Delivery Charges

There is no delivery charge for any items which you purchase from gift lists - irrespective of how many items you buy.

Fees & Charges

An admin fee of £3.50 applies, irrespective of how many items you buy. The admin fee covers the costs involved in processing, collating, storing and delivering wedding gifts. No admin fee applies if you solely buy gifts of money.

If you purchase a gift of money this is sometimes subject to a Money Fee which will be shown in the gift description if it applies. No administration fee will be charged unless other types of gifts are purchased at the same time.

There are no additional delivery charges to guests.

Why is there a charge for giving money as a gift?

As there are costs involved in processing gifts of money a Money Fee applies.

Can I pay by cheque or postal order?

Yes. You can process your gift purchase online and arrange to pay by cheque. Alternatively, you can call us on 0845 257 8529 and we can process your order which you can pay by cheque or postal order. Our publicised office hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.

Gifts which are paid by cheque or postal order are processed immediately which means that your gift choice will automatically be removed from the gift list and the couple will be notified of your purchase.

Can I make an order over the telephone?

Yes. If you wish to order by phone you can make payment by cheque or postal order to the address shown below.

Please call us on 0845 257 8529 (Monday to Friday 9am-5pm) so that we can arrange to remove your chosen gift from the couple's gift list and add your personal message to your gift purchase. If you send payment without contacting us first you may find that your preferred gift choice is purchased by another guest.

Can I make an order by post?

Yes. We recommend that you call us initially on 0845 257 8529 (Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm) if you wish to order by post as this enables us to remove your chosen gift from the couple's gift list and add your personal message to your gift purchase. If you send payment without contacting us first you may find that your preferred gift choice is purchased by another guest.

Payment

We accept most major credit and debit cards for payment online. You can pay by Visa Credit, Visa Debit, Mastercard, Switch, Maestro or Electron. If you would prefer to pay by cheque or postal order please let us know so that we can remove items from the gift list.

Processing your payment properly and securely is very important to us. All payments are handled by our secure payment partner, Nochex, so you can be confident that your personal information and card details are safe and secure. Please note that your credit / debit card statement will show that a payment was made to Nochex, not Nearly Married.

All sensitive personal and financial information is transmitted and stored securely and will never be seen by human eyes. It is encrypted using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol using the encryption key length of 128-bits provided by Verisign.

Confirmation of Purchase

When you purchase a gift from a gift list, you will receive an email from Nochex with details of your payment. You will receive a separate email from Nearly Married with details of your purchase. You should receive these both of these confirmation emails within 24 hours of your purchase. We recommend that you print a copy of this confirmation for your records.

The gift which you purchased will be removed from the gift list, and the couple will be able to see your gift purchase and message.

If your purchase is made by phone or by post, the gift will immediately be removed from the gift list before payment has cleared to prevent the gift being bought more than once. You will receive written confirmation from us when the payment has cleared.

Card declined when making payment

We use a secure payment processing firm to process online payments. We do not have any control over what they will process or decline and for privacy reasons we are not given the reason why a card has been declined.

A debit or credit card may be declined for lots of reasons including: wrong card number, wrong expiry date, wrong security code, wrong billing address, daily transaction limits, insufficient funds or random security checks by the card issuer.

If your card is declined we recommend checking that you have entered your card details correctly. If this does not work, please try another card or contact your card provider to see if there are any reasons why your card has been declined. We can accept payment by cheque or postal order.

How do I know if I have been charged for a transaction?

When your payment is successful you will be taken to a 'Thank You' page on the Nearly Married website which confirms that your payment has been successful. You will receive an email from Nochex which confirms that your transaction has been successful and a separate email from Nearly Married with your gift purchase details.

If you do not receive these confirmation emails, your transaction has not been successful. You can confirm with your card issuer whether a payment has been made from your card. Please note that payments are made to Nochex, our secure payment processing partner, not Nearly Married.

If your payment has not been successful and you would prefer to pay by cheque, please contact us and we can process your order offline.

Nearly Married is committed to providing a professional service. We deal with some of the biggest high street stores so that we can provide you with a good service. Your gift is safe with us - as soon as you purchase a gift for a couple we will take care of it. If something is not right please let us know and we will try our best to rectify it.

Cancellation Policy

We are unable to accept liability for any cancellations of any gift from a Guest once payment has been received unless we are instructed to do so by the Couple. Help! I can't add items to my shopping basket.

If you have problems adding items to your shopping basket you might need to change your firewall settings or temporarily disable your firewall protection. Please call us on 0845 257 8529 if you wish to place your order by phone or to arrange an order by post.

Our website is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We respond to all email enquiries as quickly as we can which is usually within 24 hours.
